“The World of Entertainment, A Serious Business” – A conversation between Ekta Kapoor (The queen of Indian Television Industry) and Arjun Chakrabarty (A renowned Actor, Singer & Director of the Film Industry)

E for Entertailment, E for Ekta Kapoor. Not only has Ekta Kapoor achieved success at such a young age, she also managed to win the hearts of over 350 FLO ladies with her  sharpness and a fantastic sense of humour. Perhaps she has the strongest voice when it comes to Indian televsion. According to Ekta, her learnings how to handle business came from her mother (Shobha) while at the same time she feels she got the creative gene from her father, actor Jeetendra. Ekta very humble acknowledged that she made her own share of mistakes as a young entrepreneur  “Sometimes when you have too many choices , you start to think that if plan A doesn’t work , then there is plan B. I had no choice. I had wasted my dads money. I had to get it back. The best God can give you is give you fewer choices”. It is with this determination that today Ekta’s personal net worth is over $ 10 million and Balaji Telefilms today is one of the most successful TV production houses India has ever seen. She strongly believes that every curse is a blessing and every blessing is a curse. Her advice to FLO ladies was that One should always look at a situation from one step back and be angled at a perspective to sort it and not dwell on it. This for her was the eureka moment. Today Ekta is a role model to many women. She believes that whatever success she has got inspite of being a women is because she is a woman. She feels that a woman stands a better chance of success for the simple fact that they can multi task and have a better understanding of problems. “They won’t go to drink at a bar because things didn’t work out. Instead, we go back and work at it,” says Ms Kapoor. Being in her favourite city, Kolkata, inspires her to bring out her best and to her close friends she is know as a “closet Bengali.”
