FLO organised a workshop and interactive virtual meeting with SheTrades, International Trade Centre, United Nations, Geneva on July 6, 2021.

The speakers from She Trades were Kritee Sharma, Associate Programme Officer and Christina Rivero, International Consultant.

The workshop provided detailed insights into the partnership and the benefits for FLO members. It was also announced that FLO will be signing an MOU with SheTrades soon.

Ujjwala Singhania, FLO President said, “The objective of FLO is to foster an entrepreneurial culture, by providing opportunities to transform their business ideas into reality and to provide entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources and services. In sync with this, the workshop provided a platform for our members to understand the business potential of this collaboration with She Trades platform.”

SheTrades is part of the International Trade Centre – the joint agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organization. The SheTrades initiative aims to connect three million women to the market by 2021 and rallies stakeholders around the world to work together on seven actions to address trade barriers and create greater opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

They are also supported by their website (www.shetrades.com) and mobile app – these are UN public goods that convene a global community of women entrepreneurs and stakeholders to provide a platform for networking, learning, connections, buying and selling products and services etc. These tools are available in English, Spanish and French.

SheTrades has an India project funded by the UPS Foundation, the project aims to advance the participation of women entrepreneurs in trade, with a focus on four countries – India, Mexico, Nigeria and Vietnam.
