Workshop for Mothers on Safety and First Aid for Children & Pregnant Women

May for Mothers was the theme for this month. It started with YFLO, Kolkata organizing a workshop for mothers on administering first aid to children. This program was organized as a part of our Enrich initiative.

This workshop was the first of its kind in the city of Kolkata which helped mothers to prepare for any emergency which might occur in their everyday lives. We had a great turnout of 60 members for this event and they felt enriched and better prepared to face any medical challenges regarding the following topics:

• Loss of consciousness (the child cannot wake up or respond to you).
• Seizures or convulsions (bad shaking that will not stop).
• Choking on food, drink, or an object.
• Falls from high places.
• Severe burns.
• Breathing trouble.
• Eating or drinking something poisonous.
• Heavy bleeding that will not stop and many more topics.

Our panel comprised of the following eminent doctors:
Dr.Rajarshi Raychaudhuri who is Consultant Emergency Physician trained in Trauma Medicine & Clinical Toxicology in UK specializing in children. Dr. B.D. Mukherjee, Senior Gynecologist and Dr. Ruchi Golash, Pediatrician Neonatalogist trained in UK for 7 years and Ms.Ishani Bannerjee,Senior Dietitian, CMRI.
