FLO Mumbai Chapter had conducted a panel discussion on Women Corporate Directors- Risk, Legal Liability & Protection

Ms. Monica Chaturvedi Chairperson Flo Mumbai flagged off the program with a brief introduction followed by Ms. Khushnuma Khan who introduced the moderator and welcomed the panelists.

The Panelists:

Falguni Padode is cofounder and group managing editor of asap inf global group of 10 b2b magazines in infrastructure ,construction and industry sectors and houses the smart cities council, has received numerous global awards in journalism and entrepreneurship and is a past chairperson flo.

Hasit seth is a Counsel at Bombay High court and has 20 years experience with law firms in various roles. He holds law degrees from Mumbai university, franklin pierce law centre and Harvard and has passed both the NY and Maharashtra bar.

Rashi Kapoor Mehta is a partner at law firm universal legal  and specialises in corporate commercial law and foregin exchange regulations with focus on pharma life sciences and technology.She has focused on intellectual property  laws

Swati Mayekar is a CA CS LLB practising as a ca in S. Panse and co. She is an independent director at fdc 1000 crore company which makes electral and other pharma and on uniphos enterprises of united phosphorus group.she is a trustee at institute of continuing education working with underprivileged children and an active rotarian.

Key Points discussed by panellists and outcomes:

  1. Discussion focused mainly on independent directors and not executive directors. These could be in listed or unlisted companies.
  2. Male or female board members face the same type of risks. Financial frauds are on the rise in India.
  3. Liability can be direct or vicarious liability
