Women Corporate Directors India Networking and Mentoring Forum

A Networking & Mentoring Forum was organized by Ranjana Agarwal, WCD India Chairperson on September 17, 2013 at Taj Mahal Mansingh Hotel, New Delhi. This was supported by FLO, Taj Luxury Hotels and US Commercial Council.

The goal of the Networking & Mentoring Forum was to give aspiring senior women executives and professionals an opportunity to network with mentors and sitting board members in an informal setting so that a culture of mutual mentorship can develop that will help bridge the gap between demand and supply.

Susan Stautberg shared the vision of WCD, which is the only global membership organization and community of women corporate directors, comprised of more than 1,800 members serving on over 2,600 boards in 50 chapters around the world. She said that in this new era of responsibility, WCD is committed not just to good governance, but to governance with global vision.

Mr.Sunil Kant Munjal, Jt.MD Hero MotoCorp was the Keynote Speaker. Mr Munjal was highly encouraging towards the initiatives taken up by WCD and appreciated the fact that the India Wing is catering to the needs of the time in the current scenario. He added that Hero MotorCorp is also contributing its bit towards this direction.

Malvika Rai, President FLO elaborated on the collaboration between FLO & WCD, and said that the synergies could be deepened by working towards mentoring potential women directors and thereby creating a pool of resources.

34 senior corporate women from pan- India participated in the forum.

WCD India is the Indian arm of Women Corporate Directors. FLO and WCD affiliation was inaugurated on February 27, 2012 by Susan Stautberg, Co founder of the Women Corporate Director (WCD) and Naina Lal Kidwai, President-FICCI & Executive Director on the Board of HSBC Ltd. and Country Head of HSBC India.

FLO and WCD association began with a MOU signed between WCD and FLO in 2010-11. Under the MOU, WCD and FLO agreed to create a platform for women directors to network, discuss and share best practices.
