WHERE SHOULD I INVEST? Real Estate, Stock Market, Jewellery, Art An Afternoon with the experts – Federation House, New Delhi

FLO organized an interactive session on Where Should I Invest. Real Estate, Stock Market, Jewellery, Art.. on September 30, 2013 at New Delhi.

The session was organized with the objective to provide a better understanding on the subject from a panel of experts comprising – Ms. Gagan Singh, CEO Business, Jones Lang Lasalle – Real Estate;Ms. Neena Prasad, Singapore Stock Exchange – Stock Market;Mr. Subhash Bhola, Bholasons Jewellers, – Gold, Diamonds, Jewellery and Ms. Roshini Vadehra, Vadehra Art Gallery.

In her welcome address, FLO President Malvika Rai said that it is really a complex problem to correctly estimate the right investment choices which could range from stocks to Real Estate to Jewellery to Art amongst others. She added that the session will clear several doubts and would help the members to take prudent and informed investment decisions.

Ms Gagan Singh talked about the returns on investment on real estate in various strategic locations in Delhi and NCR region. She also provided her recommendations on the selection of locations and type of real estate investments in that particular location, choice of developers or builders, negotiation of prices and current market trends.

The tips for investing in gold provided by Mr Subhash Bhola were highly enlightening. He suggested that only stamped/ hallmarked gold should be bought from renowned jewelers and banks. He suggested a website www.moneycrontrol.com, which could act as a guide in buying gold as the prices could be compared and it helps the buyer to assess the current scenario in the market.

The Presentation made by Ms Roshni Vadehra was highly appreciated by the members. Ms Vadehra suggested that art should be taken up as a serious subject in the school curriculums as this would help in increasing the knowledge base among children and thereby, creating awareness about art in a serious manner. Talking about investing in art, she suggested that one should follow the market trends specially by following an avid art collector like Lekha Poddar, which would facilitate in making the right investment decisions.

Ms Neena Prasad talked about the importance of asset allocation and portfolio management. In her presentation, she highlighted on the various process flows in asset allocation and recommended allocation in percentage in Equity, Fixed Income & Alternate Investments such as Real Estate, Private Equity and Commodity. She suggested that investments would be research oriented and macro indicators of economy should be always kept in mind. She also advised that there should be no emotional attachment with the investments so that wise decisions can be taken in crucial times.

In her concluding remarks, Ms Archana Garodia Gupta, Vice President FLO and Day Chair of the Programme thanked the panelists for highlighting on various factors one needs to consider before making the right investment decision. She added that the session was very informative due to the tips provided by the panelists, which helped us to understand several things related to investment choices, numerous queries were answered and several misconceptions were cleared.
