“Wellness Rules!”, a Conclave for proactive wellbeing of women

Putting a spotlight on Women’s Financial Wellness and Economic Empowerment—Sleepwell Foundation, FICCI FLO and Young FLO Delhi jointly organized “Wellness Rules!” a proactive well-being Conclave on 3rd February 2023, at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.

In view of India’s presidency of G20 this year and its focus on empowering and progressing women’s representation in economic development of nations, the Conclave was of huge significance. G20 EMPOWER, a G20 alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women’s Economic Representation was a partner for this Conclave.

The theme of the Inaugural session was Holistic Wellness of “Young Women” for Global Good. Chief Guest, Mr Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth affairs and sports and Guest of Honour Ms. Revathy Asha Kelunni, actor and director addressed the session.

Hon’ble Minister said, “Women’s role in leading the national transformation has been a defining feature under the present regime in the country. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have prioritized women’s development and also women-led-development.”

“From women sarpanchs to outstanding athletes, business leaders, legislators, entrepreneurs and technocrats the role of women in governance, public service, sports, social entrepreneurship and corporate leadership is being celebrated in India like never before!so as to ensure that each and every woman becomes confident, self-reliant, financially independent and thus increasing their participation in the society.” he added.

Smt Revathy highlighted the essence and importance of wellness and shared the story of Sujatha and Venkatesh, the real-life story that inspired her film as a Director, ‘Salam Venky.’

This session was also addressed by Jayanti Dalmia, National President FLO, Namita Gautam, Managing Trustee, Sleepwell Foundation and Gayatri Rai, Chairperson, YFLO Delhi.

Richa Anirudh, journalist, RJ, talk show host, author, and an editor anchored the session.

The next session “The Indian Way: India as Vishwa Guru” focused on India’s glorious culture and heritage for a dynamic present and a promising future for holistic wellness of young women. This session was addressed by Dr Yash Gupta- consultant Surgeon & Author, UK, Mr Sanjay k Roy- Managing Director Teamwork Arts, Prof Sunaina Singh- Vice Chancellor Nalanda University, HG Amogh Lila Prabhu- Spiritual and Motivational Speaker ISKCON.

In the next session, Ms Bhakti Sharma – Sarpanch, Barkhedi Abdullah, Mr Amitabh Shah- Founder & Chief Inspiration officer Yuva Unstoppable, Ms Bansuri Suvraj- Lawyer Supreme Court of India discussed about aspirations and a way forward for women, especially young women, setting firmer ground in transforming the world. Aptly titled ‘A Vision for Young Women by the Young’, it was a very enriching, empowering and inspirational session.

The theme of India’s G20 Presidency – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth · One Family · One Future” – is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad.

The session that was interlinked with the theme “ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” was addressed by Ms Shani Rapaport Elsiony- First Secretary Head of public Diplomacy, Embassy of Israel, Dr Mariann Erdo- Director cultural Counsellor Hungarian Cultural Centre, New Delhi.

The theme conveys a powerful message of India’s G20 Presidency, which is of striving for just and equitable growth for all in the world, as we navigate through these turbulent times, in a sustainable, holistic, responsible, and inclusive manner. They represent a uniquely Indian approach of living in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

Another highlight of the Conclave was Financial Wellness of women, without which holistic wellness cannot be achieved. The session on “Creating an Ecosystem For Financial Wellness of Young Women” focused on the collective of four pillars of Democracy- Legislative, Executive, Judiciary and Media – for ameliorating Wellness of Young Women.

This session was addressed by Dr. Rashmi Singh, Commissioner, State Taxes for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir; Justice (Mrs) Mukta Gupta, Hon’ble Judge, Delhi High Court and Ms Navika Kumar, Group Editor, Times Network. Richa Anirudh, Producer of Zindagi with Richa moderated the session.

The Concluding Session was addressed by Ms Joyshree Das Verma, Vice President, FLO & Honorary Consul of Israel, North East India.

The Wellness Lunch with the theme “The Return of the Millet” was curated by Dr. Avantika Krishna Killa, Founder, Panchatattva – An Integrated Health Centre and Member, YFLO Delhi.

The Wellness Rules Conclave is probably the only event of its kind that had interactive sessions aimed at learning and adopting best practices from India and the world and envisioning a way forward in creating an ecosystem for Financial Wellness of young women. The insights and ideas emerging from the Conclave are likely to inspire decision makers and ecosystem influencers in India, and also at a Global level.

This is the eleventh edition of “Wellness Rules!” Conclave in the country. The first Conclave was held in New Delhi on March 3, 2015 by Sleepwell Foundation in association with FLO and Young FLO Delhi. Subsequently, they were held in Guwahati, Port Blair, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chennai in association with Govt. bodies like Andaman Administration, NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation), and others.
