THE TARINI: HER VOYAGE IN HER OWN WORDS

It was a moment of immense pride for FLO Indore Chapter to welcome Lieutenant Commander Ms. P Swathi, Nausena Medal Awardee (Indian Navy) who circumnavigated the world along with 5 other members in254 days on INSV TARINI. Honourable Mayor Mrs. Malini Gaud the first citizen of Indore graced this occasion as the Guest of Honour and Airport Director Ms. Aryama Sanyal was the special guest. Also, the presence of 300+ school children made the function even more glittering.

Reaching the top was not that smooth for her. Being the 3rd daughter in her family, she was not that well accepted by her father. Still Ms. P Swathi did not lose hope and decided to fight all odds. This marked the beginning of the unexpected. After her educational voyage, Ms. P Swathi became a part of the all-women Indian Navy expedition of circumnavigating the world.

It was a 21600 nautical miles voyage, which covered 5 countries, 4 continents, 3 oceans and twice crossed the Mediterranean line. This spellbound narration deeply inspired the FLO members and students & educators from different schools of Indore.
