Shringar – An Ode to Beauty

Beauty is Shringar. The art of adorning oneself beautifully is Shringar. Jewels, clothes, flowers, make up, a smile, an expression, all go towards shringar. It is a fascinating subject from time immemorial—common to gods, royals, nobility and commoners.

Ms. Rupa Gopal a photo journalist and writer has more than ten years of research on the subject fuelled by a lifelong fascination for it. She showcases beauty from head to toe. Through an audio visual presentation and to make this audio visual attractive to the viewer, relevant pictures and clips have been diligently sourced and put together with detailed commentary and ravishing music. To bring the theme alive, a ramp walk by our very own FLO members was put together wherein jewels by Mehta Jewellery, the event sponsor, specially made to suit the ethnic theme, showing timeless patterns that have been prevalent in India were displayed. Jewels from head to toe were showcased on the ramp bringing the beauty of the Indian woman and Indian artistry to the fore.
