Run for empowerment

FICCI FLO, Pune Chapter in its empowering initiative!

Under its sports initiative, FICCI FLO Pune Chapter organized a Half Marathon, ‘Run for empowerment’. This was held on 2nd October 2016 at Magarpatta Gorund and saw an overwhelming response of 5500+ participants braving the weather at 5.00am in the morning.

It was the second year of this flagship event and was graced by the first lady of Maharashtra, Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis; Athlete Ms. Lalita Babar, who is the current national record holder in 3000mtrs steeplechase & also declared as sportsperson of the year, along with the courageous Ms. Arunima Sinha, who inspite of being physically challenged, scaled Mount Everest and five other highest peaks of the world.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson of FLO, Pune said: “The real mantra of any mission is like-minded people coming together and working towards one goal”.

Other dignitaries and sponsors were also present at this event. Cash prizes along with trophies and medals were given to runners in the 21km and 10km category. Each category saw female and male, open as well as veteran winners and runners up.

The message of good health was given through Zumba workouts which made the entire audience feel the benefit of exercise. The ‘Home for Blind Girls’, Pune was also seen participating in this event. They played the ‘Dhol Taasha’ for the occasion.

A souvenir was unveiled on this occasion which was a member initiative and was able to raise notable funds for the activities planned through the year.
