General Rawat’s presence was highly significant as FLO launch the nationwide celebrations of India@75, commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence which falls on 15th August 2022.

To mark this momentous occasion, a commemorative stamp was released along with a video celebrating the 75 years of Indian independence.
In conversation with Gen Rawat, was Mr Maroof Raza, well known commentator on global, military and security issues and a former Indian army officer too.

While welcoming the guests, Ujjwala Singhania, President FLO said, “ I would like to take this opportunity to salute the Indian Army, which is an epitome of the highest values that India as a country stands for- Valour, Glory, Sacrifice & Duty.

From the icy landscapes of Siachen to the arid deserts of Rajasthan, the Indian Army acts as a shield for over a billion lives in our country keeping us safe from all external threats that continue to disturb our borders.”
“Women are gradually yet steadfastly taking up all responsibility that were predominantly undertaken by men in the Army. Time is not far when they will be equally shouldering responsibilities”, said General Rawat during his address.

He added that “Indian Armed forces have been trying to offer near equal opportunities to women in Army, Navy and Air Force. We are committed to induct more and more women officers in the Armed Forces. However, there is a need to study the relevant aspects for this so that we can create the right framework to make this induction smoother. Both administrative and social infrasturture should be ensured to make this possible. The aim is create a gender neutral working environment without compromsing our operational capabilities ”
