Pursuit of Happiness with Sharmila Tagore

FICCI Ladies Organisation,Ludhiana Chapter, with Gunjan Jain of “SHE WALKS SHE LEADS”fame welcomed . celebrated thespian, Ms Sharmila Tagore. Ms Tagore burst upon the cinematic scene with Satyajit Ray’s highly acclained Apur Sansar. She went on to star in over a 100 Bengali and Hindi films and is a three time National Award recipient. Her performances in films like Nirjan Saikate, Anupama, Satyakam, Aradhna, Mausam, New Delhi Times and Mississippi Masala, to name a few, won her both critical and popular acclaim. In 1999 Ms Tagore was bestowed with the Officer de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France and in 2012 the Government of India honoured her with the Padma Bhushan. While over the years she has cut down on her film appearances, she continues to contribute to the Indian film industry. She served as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification from 2004 till 2011 and in 2009 was invited to be a jury member at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival. Besides her cinematic pursuits, she is also passionate about the many philanthrophic causes she supports. Through the Pataudi Trust she supports acid attack survivors and patronises other community projects. She is UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador in its fight against HIV and is also actively involved in the efforts of Venu Eye Institute for the corneally challenged. In 1968, she married the Nawab of Pataudi, Mansur Ali Khan and together they have three children –Saif,Soha and Saba.
