SHE LEADS INDIA : Celebrate Women…today and everyday!

Ficci Ladies Organisation (FLO) in collaboration with www.SheThePeople.tv organised a very interesting session titled “She Leads India”, on March 7, 2018 at FICCI.

To commemorate International Women’s Day, which is celebrated worldwide onMarch 8, there could have been no better way to revel in the power of womanhood – with an eminent panel of the nation’s  leading women; women who  are inspirational role models and have contributed immensely to nation building and sustainable development, in their own areas.

Smt. Sheila Dikshit- former Chief Minister of Delhi; Neerja Birla – Philanthropist; Aditi Mittal- Comedian; Priyanka Raina- social entrepreneur; Shreya Singhal-  Lawyer; Rashmi Bansal- Author & Manisha Raisinghani- Founder- Loginext Solutions; Shivani Malik, Da Milano and Nistha Satyam, UNWomen shared their experiences.

FLO President, Vasvi Bharat Ram said, “Women definitely propel economic growth of a nation, with around 20% contribution to the GDP by women.  Over the past few years, though India has seen strong policy focus on the empowerment of women and on women centric issues, we have a long way to go as far as the percentage of women leaders. This is the need of the hour. If we have to achieve a faster pace of growth rate – it is imperative to tap and converge the powerhouse that women are, by bringing them into the mainstream and giving them the leadership roles.”

Ms Shaili Chopra, Founder of SheThePeople.TV, which is India’s biggest platform for women, conceptualised the programme. Chopra, who conceptualised She Leads India said, “There is no better time than this for women to come together as a collective voice. At She Leads India we bring together women who empower, engage and elevate – making them inspirations for half a billion women.

Vasvi Bharatram further added, “Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful. I am sure all of us would agree that it is imperative to reflect upon the critical need for awareness amongst women of their rights and a proper nurturing of our minds towards what we have to accept or reject.”

“FLO truly recognizes that women are the critical mass that will transform politics, improve governance, and ensure inclusive and more socially sensitive development. We are aware of the fact that there is an enormous task ahead of all of us and as an organisation, FLO aspires to be a catalyst in propelling women towards her rightful place in society”, she added.
Chopra noted, “The focus this women’s day is Press for Progress and as the biggest media platform for women in India, SheThePeople.TV is hoping 2018 will be the game changing year. At our platform, our endeavour is to constantly raise the voice, put the spotlight on women leadership, emphasise on the power of digital and the need for women to be part of economic activity.”
Mrs Bharat Ram further added, “On the occasion of Women’s’ Day, there could not have been a better platform than this for inspiration and celebration of our growing community of women in power in various walks of life. We endorse that the theme of ‘She Leads India’ would provide great context to the effort that lies ahead in encouraging more and more women and also celebrating the successes of many others.”
