Launch of FLO Advocacy & Legal Cell with Dr. Pinky Anand

FLO Jaipur chapter organised an event with Dr. Pinky Anand Add. Solicitor General, Supreme Court of India on December 10, 2016.

Chairperson Ms. Preeti Saboo said that this is to educate and arm women with legal knowledge in several areas, business, succession and others. We shall also be putting forth several policy issues regarding equality of women etc, to the government. The event was attended by Advocate R. D. Rastogi- Assistant Solicitor General, Rajsathan, Adv. Nand Kishore Mehta, Jodhpur High Court.

Ms. Anand in the discussion on Laws, Rights spoke on what actually Law is & what is the Conception our citizens holds about it. When we are young we are taught our moral values which is more or less similar in connotation to Laws the only difference between them is Law is Dynamic & Moral is somewhat Static. Speaking about Women Law & issue, we Indians have the largest constitution protecting the Human Rights, Protecting Children & Women, Fundamental Right. Bringing Judiciary Changes or Law is a challenge but rather than that India being a developing country accepts technology within seconds, but when it comes for LAW the scenario is changed. First the Law makers frame a law for the benefit of the Nation’s Citizen & while accepting or taking the way of the law our citizens want to stay away from the roads of Law, which is depressing. We have Air conditioned offices which is very well talked but we are for the service of our Citizens & any benefit taken from us in the source of a piece of information also serves our purpose.
While speaking about the Women issues & Law there is an importance of mechanism for everything so is with anti laws for Women & their issues. On the first place we don’t bother much about women issues & harassment because very few cases are filed. In the meanwhile there are loopholes too about the existing Judicial system but there are newer & fresh faces of Law for the benefit of Women.

On the Context the members also asked questions related to property, constitutional laws, Stri Dhan, Sexual abuse, Abuse in the Workplace…..

The Highlights of the event were:

– It was a learning session for the members to know about how women were treated prior to the 18th Century & how they have been degraded in 19th Century. Now with the amendments in Law things are getting better.

– Law is something which has always been not the Cup of Tea of Women- But a speaker like Dr. Anand broke all stereotypes & the audience well praised her presence at FLO.
