KINGDOM OF DREAMS "JHUMROO SHOW" 20th March 2013

On Wednesday afternoon, YFLO ladies made their way to Gurgaon to witness Jhumroo Show which brought alive songs, life and energy of the legend Kishore Kumar. They were awed not only by what they saw on stage, but also what they saw off stage.

The show of course was stunning as expected. But it was the walk through the backstage area that was a real eye opener – a green room that extended almost half a mile full of buzzing cast and crew; the wings which seemed larger than the stage itself; the larger than life props – spectacular would be an understatement; and the gigantic moving sets – a sight hard to believe.

This tour coupled with an interaction with the characters was impressive. We met with ‘Meena’ & ‘Bhola’ the lead protagonists, who explained how they interchange between characters and shows – one day they could be playing Meena of Jhumroo and another day Sonali of Zangoora.

As Rituraj (Asst. Manager Operations) & Jatin (Asst. Manager Production) took us on a tour behind the scenes, we realized the tremendous effort that goes into putting a production together. The cast and crew rehearse for an incredible 8 months before a show hits the stage. During this time the actors go through a rigorous fitness regime so that they are able to perform better. All the balancing and hanging scenes are dependent on their fitness levels.

It was a fantastic eye-opening afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone present. The behind the scenes tour was a like a windfall gain; an opportunity that we normally would never have got, a glimpse into the reality behind the stage.
