Interstate Meet at Kolkata and Trip to Myanmar January 15th – 21st, 2011

The Interstate Meet at Kolkata was a great success. Sixty delegates from all over India attended the Meet. The Interstate provided opportunity to members to network and exchange ideas and share information regarding activities in their respective chapters.

The Interstate started with a traditional Bengali lunch hosted by Ruchika Gupta, Member Kolkata Chapter at Sovabazar Raj Bari . This set the tone of the interstate and delegates were impressed by Bengali culture and hospitality. FLO would like to thank Sanmarg Media House for covering the event so extensively in its Kolkata edition.

The Great Kolkata Bazaar hosted by Laxmi Tantia at her residence and the sumptuous Marwari dinner hosted by Manisha Kajaria, Chairperson, Kolkata Chapter ensured that delegates shopped comfortably in beautiful  setting.

A luxury river cruise took the delegates for a planned visit to Daxshineshwar temple. FLO wishes to put on record its appreciation and thanks to the sponsorers ‘Leonardo Olive Oil company” and Usha Modi and Saroj Jajodia  for making the visit memorable.

Finally  the “Stringing Rhythms” fusion music by Pt. Rahul Sharma (Santoor) & Bickram Ghosh (Tabla) was a treat none of us can forget.

The 5 day side trip to Myanmar  provided an opportunity to the 40 delegates to meet the Indian Ambassador  to Myanmar, Dr V S Seshadri , interact with business women, and members of Indian Association of Myanmar.

FLO is grateful to Mr. BL Goenka chairperson of Mynmaar Indian business Chamber (MIBC) for hosting lunch and Mr. Naresh Dinodia Chairperson of IAM for hosting dinner. FLO President, Ranjana Agarwal  addressed both the associations giving a brief  introduction of FLO activity and thanked  the hosts and  invited the members to visit India to further business prospects between the two countries.

At the IAM dinner, the delegates had opportunity to interact with Smt  Preneet Kaur, State Minister of External Affairs, Govt. of India who was also present. She was  in Myanmar to participate in the conference by the ‘ Regional Cooperation of the Governments of Bangaladesh, India, Myanmar,Srilanka & Thailand(BISMT)

FLO thanks the Kolkata Chapter Chairperson Manisha Kajaria, Niharika Agarwal for the useful kits distributed to delegates and other members of her team who  worked hard to  make the Interstate  a huge success.
