Interactive Session with Shri Santhosh Babu on Understanding the Building Blocks in Relationship

FLO organized an interactive session on Understanding the Building Blocks in Relationships with Shri Santhosh Babu, a world-renowned psychologist who works with leaders to shift limiting beliefs to bring about lasting positive change in lives, on July 22 2013 at FICCI.

Shri Santhosh Babu has been working with organizations in the areas of Leadership Development and Organization Transformation. He is also a visiting faculty with ISB and Duke University. He is the Author of India’s first book on Coaching and Leadership Development.

Ms Malvika Rai FLO President, in her welcome address, said that building a healthy and happy relationship is like building a house, with a strong foundation, lots of work, good support, and constant maintenance. She also added that the key elements on a successful relationship are Communication, Respect, trust and pragmatic problem solving efforts.

The session was highly interactive and enriching for the members. To understand the building blocks in relationships, Shri Babu used the Enneagram model – which provides a clear map for us to see who we are, how we fit into the scheme of things and how we interact with others.

The typology defines nine personality types, which are represented by the points of a geometric figure called an Enneagram. Shri Santhosh Babu explained the 9 personality types, which provides a rational explanation to “why” people do what they do.

Another key learning from the session was the formula of performance, which according to Shri Santhosh Babu, is Performance= Potential – Interference. He highlighted that interference comes from within. It is essential to understand self in order to restrict interference, to utilize individual potential for maximum performance.

Sangita Gupta, Governing Body Member & Day Chair for the programme gave the vote of thanks and thanked Shri Santhosh Babu for the enriching session which provided a wonderful opportunity to introspect on our personality types, understand who we are, how we behave and how we could use our inherent characteristics for self-development.
