India: Past, Present & Future Ready with Mr KV Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India

FLO organised an interaction on ‘India: Past, Present & Future Ready’ with Mr KV Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Government of India on August 27, 2021.

Dr. K V Subramanian, currently Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, is a leading expert on economic policy, banking, and corporate governance. A PhD from Chicago Booth and a top-ranking IIT- IIM alumnus, he authored the path-breaking Economic Survey that commends “Ethical Wealth Creation” for a prosperous India.

By integrating India’s rich economic and spiritual heritage with modern economic ideas, he advocates ethical wealth creation through a marriage of the invisible hand of the market with the hand of trust.

The discussions highlighted one of the most important issues of India’s economic preparedness in the midst of an expected third wave of COVID19, while the nation is still grappling with the aftermath of the second wave.

Dr. Subramanian shared instances of how India was able to deal with the pandemic a lot better than most nations and will continue to do so. He also asked the audience to not forget that the struggle of the past 2 years has only brought in new innovations by startups that are disrupting industries. “Our country has had more Unicorns in the past 1.5 years contributing to the growth of our economy as well.”, he added.

In her welcome address, FLO National President, Ujjwala Singhania said, “As we all set forward to celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations next year with the theme – ‘Nation First, Always First’, it is an opportune time to reflect on our glorious past, live our best in the present and work towards a stronger future.”

Governing Body Member Sunira Chamaria was the Day Chair of the event.
