FLO, YFLO & Sleepwell Foundation “Wellness Rules!”— Proactive Well-being Conclave Celebrating International Women’s Day

FLO, YFLO along with Sleepwell Foundation organized “Wellness Rules!”— Proactive Well-being Conclave to celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday, March 3, 2017  at Hotel Le Méridien, New Delhi.

The theme of this year’s Conclave was Women and Community proactive wellness. Women and their proactive wellness and Women & Family proactive wellness were themes of 2015 and 2016 conclaves respectively. Encompassing the role of women for community proactive wellness completes the trilogy of wellness of society.

The Wellness Conclave helped us delve deeper into the concept of proactive wellness for and by women and community.The conclave encompassed topics ranging from Ideas for Community Wellness, Holistic Wellness, and Wellness in Adversity and Art & Community Wellness etc.

Distinguished speakers…leaders, practitioners, motivators and role models spoke on various aspects & issues related with Wellness. They suggested various ways how women could individually, with the help of our families & Organizations and collectively as a group do something about any or all of these issues to ensure holistic wellness of society.

Smt. Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister of Women & Child Development inaugurated the conclave and address the audience. Smt Gandhi announced that a new app called “ I Am Trolled”, will be launched by the government , to protect women, who are being threatened with physical violence or trolled on social media. Her ministry is also planning to add 600 new one-stop help centres “Sakhi” in two years wherein women can seek help on domestic violence, health and legal issues etc. “We are also going to set up ‘Women Entrepreneurship Council’ and tied up with e-commerce platform Amazon for its online portal “Mahila-e-Haat”, wherein women get a platform to market their homemade products from home,” the minister said.

Noted Film actor Dia Mirza inaugurated the exhibition of lifestyle products on the sidelines of the Conclave. Speaking at the Conclave, she expressed her views on environmental issues, women safety and reforms.

In her welcome address, Ms. Vinita Bimbhet, President, FLO, said, “Proactive Community Wellness is not just about what each of us do as individuals, it is also about how, as a group of empowered and privileged women, we affect each other, and the impact that we can have together on the health of our community.”

Ms. Trupti Gupta, Chairperson, YFLO Delhi emphasised that community wellness is an important topic that needs to be addressed by young people like us. She said, “All of us need to get out of our comfort zone and work together for the betterment of our society.”

Namita Gautam, Managing Trustee, Sleepwell Foundation, said, “For all of us women, irrespective of our class, strata and urban luxurious living, the stakes are very high. So, by working together, we have to ensure that our surrounding community remains healthy holistically—physically, emotionally, creatively, intellectually and spiritually. Chikangunia, Pollution, Increasing Crimes and Unrest are some of the issues that affect all of us. And we can’t escape from them anymore”.

The highlight of the event were sessions by eminent personalities— Ms. Rashmi Malik (Secretary, Spic Macay), Ms. Deepa Malik (Motivational Speaker & Athlete), Dr. Naresh Trehan(Chairman and Managing Director, Medanta—The Medicity, Ms. Debjani Ghosh, (V.P. Intel India, MD Intel South Asia), Mr. Anshu Gupta (Founder-‘Goonj’), Mr. Vivek  Agnihotri (Film Director & Producer), Ms. Anju Modi( Eminent Fashion Designer),Ms. Pallavi Joshi (Film & TV actor & Filmmaker), Ms. Rene Singh (Singer & Music Composer) along with Manzil Mystics Group. Ms. Richa Anirudh (TV Anchor & RJ) was the master of ceremony and Ms. Puja Talwar, (Journalist) moderated a session.
