The session covered the Roles, Responsibilities and Liabilities of Directors & The Effective Boards and their Cultures.

Existing Women Directors & the aspirants found the programme very informative with valuable takeaways.

Sangeeta Jain, Chairperson said it was an opportunity to learn to make a difference, ensure the longevity & success of our business by playing key roles at the helm, not just be in name but play active roles as directors on our family boards or company boards as mandated by the government too.
The key takeaways were:

  • Ideal mix of executive & independent directors.
  • Transparent appointment process of directors.
  • Higher responsibility comes with higher authority.
  • Maintaining Independence will ensure effectiveness.
  • Diversity in gender & skill set will bring agility.
  • Separation of roles as well as appointing lead independent director.
  • The cultural tone of the board is set by the chairman’s own behaviour, a good chairman provides a cultural environment in which high level, open & honest debate can take place & where each director feels free to add value.

Overall it was a very engaging & well received programme.
