FLO Programme Emerging Cyber Crime in Our Daily Lives: Living with Virtual Threats New Delhi:

“Children and women are more vulnerable to cyber crimes today. Stringent measures should be taken up to prevent Cyber bullying, Cyber Defamation and Cyber Stalking besides other forms of Virtual threats – that we are constantly dealing with in our daily lives. ”, said Mr. Rakshit Tandon at an interactive session on Emerging Cyber Crime in Our Daily Lives: Living with Virtual Threats, organized by FICCI Ladies Organisation at Federation House, New Delhi on January 28, 2013.

Mr. Rakshit Tandon, CEO of TSP (Tandons Solution Provider) is working as Advisor & Investigation Expert to Cyber Crime Unit of Uttar Pradesh Police at Agra. He is working as a Chief Resource Advisor and Speaker for IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India).

Mr. Tandon said, “Majority of cyber crime is targeted at teenagers and adults as well. Most of us are also unaware of the legal ramifications of the online activities and end up being a part of the cyber crime.”

He further added, “While internet is all- pervading in today’s context, it is essential to sensitise both parents and children the use and abuse of the internet. The issue should be addressed through school authorities and school curriculums should include Netiquettes and Cyber Laws as a part of basic education”.

In light of the several incidents of Cyber crimes such as Internet fraud, identity theft and other data related crimes that led to severe economic and physical catastrophes, Mr Rakshit Tandon highlighted various ways to be shielded from cyber attacks.

He also provided some basic tips for Smart Surfing, Email Security, Facebook Security, Preventing E-frauds, Mobile Safety tips, Smart Applications etc., which could help in detecting responding and protecting from such threats.

Neena Malhotra, Imm. Past President-FLO conceptualised and Chaired the session. In her welcome address, she said, “FICCI Ladies Organisation, in a constant endeavour to bring to the fore, various pertinent topics relevant to the members, conceptualised the programme on Cyber Crime to create awareness about the importance of cyber security and to highlight on the precautionary steps that we can take to protect out personal as well as business information from the risks involved in cyber space.”
