FLO & ET NOW Programme Swatantra – Investor Education Initiative Identifying best investment options available & deciding the right financial product to achieve financial freedom

FLO, in collaboration with ET NOW organised a session on Financial Planning for women at FICCI on August 1, 2015. The objective of this session was to help the members in identifying best investment options available & deciding the right financial product to achieve financial freedom.

The Panelists were – Hena Nagpal, Managing, Director, Quantum Leap Wealth Advisors; Rajul Kothari, Partner, Capital League ;Rita Gupta, Chief Finance Officer, HCL Avitas and Ritu Mathur, Director, Megriar Advisors Pvt Ltd. The session moderated by, Ayesha Faridi, News Editor – Markets, ET NOW.

In her welcome address, FLO President Archana Garodia Gupta said, “It is important what you earn, but what you save. The crucial part is where you put your money. It is important to keep control on your finances and be aware of the market. Choices are many and we need guidance to find the right way. Through this session, we aim to empower women to identify best investment options available and decide the right financial product to achieve financial freedom.”

A wide range of topics were covered, including investment plans, emergency funds, risk profiles, Health & Life Insurance, Retirement Planning, Will or estate planning, Career sabbatical – how to manage it, Divorce – implications on savings and investments, Single mother challenge and above all, separating business money from personal money.

The panelists enriched the members with the knowledge on the right ways of investing in mutual funds, which allow investors to pool in their money for a diversified selection of securities, managed by a professional fund manager. It offers an array of innovative products like fund of funds, exchange-traded funds, Fixed Maturity Plans, Sectoral Funds and many more.

The key idea that arose from the discussions was that mutual funds are an ideal investment option when you are looking at convenience and timesaving opportunity. With low investment amount alternatives, the ability to buy or sell them on any business day and a multitude of choices based on an individual’s goal and investment need, investors are free to pursue their course of life while their investments earn for them.

Members actively participated in the Q & A Session, which helped them understand financial concepts better and overcoming related fears.
