FLO CSR PROJECT Skill Up-gradation and Gain-full Employment of Rural Clusters – Learn and Earn Initiatives at Shantiniketan Inauguration Programme

FLO has initiated a CSR project on “Skill Up-gradation and Gain-full Employment of Rural Clusters – Learn and Earn Initiatives’ at Shantiniketan.

Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) will be conducting the training programme for 6 weeks to artisans from Santiniketan Kantha Embroidery cluster. During these programmes, select groups of women artisans (entrepreneurs) from the cluster will be given inputs on contemporary design and production norms, which are the stepping stone for dealing directly with the various marketing organizations. The women entrepreneurs will also create new products out of the designs thus created and marketed by FMC.

The beneficiaries were selected on the basis of a series of interviews conducted by a committee headed by Mr. Ashutosh Sen General Manager – District Industries Centre (DIC) and Faculty from Vishwa Bharati University and Amar Kutir a local cooperative for promoting artisanal crafts. The project was inaugurated on July 18, 2012 at Hotel Utsav, Sericulture Road, Jamboni, Bolpur.

Past Presidents Renuka Shah and Usha Agarwala, Kolkata Chapter chairperson Ruchika Gupta, Executive Director Shipra Chatterjee and 6 more members from Kolkata chapter attended the inaugural function.
