FLO BUSINESS DELEGATION 2019 ISRAEL & JORDAN

FLO President, Harjinder Kaur Talwar led a business delegation of 60 women entrepreneurs and professionals from across India, to Israel and Jordan from September 9-17, 2019.

HE Ron Malka, Ambassador of Israel to India did the ceremonial flag off for the FLO Delegation to Israel & Jordan On September 4th at the Embassy of Israel.

The objective of the business delegation was to strengthen and enhance mutual understanding, cooperation and exchange of ideas between women entrepreneurs and professionals between India and Israel.

FLO President Harjinder Kaur Talwar said, “Israel is an iconic destination and people travel from all over the world take in its beauty, its history and its technology. Israel is ranked 54th out of 190 economies in World Bank’s 2018 Ease of Doing Business Survey, which makes it a very attractive business destination as well.”

When asked about why FLO President chose Israel as the destination, she mentioned, “Two years back I was a part of the India- Israel dialogue and has interacted with visiting Israeli delegates. The idea of taking an all-women delegation started from there. While the business scenario is so vibrant amongst men, my idea is to create a platform for trade exchanges between women to women for India and Israel.”

The visit of the FICCI FLO delegation is a result of the ongoing activities with the Embassy of Israeli in India. This was initiated by Harjinder KaurTalwar, under the FLO Embassy Exchange Initiative, with the aim of encouraging business cooperation with added economic and social value.

During the official flag-off ceremony by Dr Ron Malka, he said, “We are very proud to host such an important business delegation from India. This will encourage collaborations between female entrepreneurs and businesswomen of both countries. I expect more business interactions and opportunities to come in the near future. The people to people connection is the foundation for cooperation in every field, and therefore it is important to have Indians and Israelis come in contact as much as possible.”

The itinerary was a perfect amalgamation of business and sightseeing, with business meetings in Jerusalem and Amman and visiting the other landmark places in both countries.

On September 10, 2019, Ambassador Yael Ravia-Zadok, MFA Deputy Director-General Economic Affairs Division and Israel-India Chamber of Commerce Chairperson Anat Bernstein-Reich hosted a India- Israel Women Business Forum at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Jerusalem to introduce the Indian delegates to Israeli counterparts with interests covering a wide range of fields, with the aim of encouraging discussion and sharing and finding common interface points.

It was an excellent platform for identifying opportunities and establish connections between leaders in the Israeli and Indian economic and civil spheres and to strengthen the foundation for future economic transactions and partnerships between the business leadership of both countries. An MoU was signed between FLO & Israel-India Chamber of Commerce, towards this objective.

On September 12, 2019, Indian Ambassador in Jordan, HE Mr. Anwar Haleem addressed the delegates at the Business meeting organized by with Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA) at Amman. The JCC was represented by its First Vice-Chairman, Mr. Jamal Al-Refai and BPWA was represented by Mrs. Rana Abweh, President, on the occasion.

Besides this, the delegation visited the iconic places at Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea.
