The program commenced with the singing of national anthem.

Sangeeta Jain, FLO Chairperson while welcoming the government officials said it was important to bridge the communication gap between the civil society& the government for an improved redressal of issues & concerns. The flagship event ‘Face to face with the government ‘was an effective platform to take it forward.

The panelists unanimously agreed that Ludhiana was grappling with the issues of surging levels of pollution, traffic congestion, religious processions on roads, nuisance of blaring loud speakers, underage driving, road rage, inappropriate parking space, badly designed roads, beggar menace, railway station makeover, functional airport & many more pertinent concerns.

Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Ravi Bhagat said it was good to see the awareness among women of Ludhiana to bring about a considerable improvement in the society. FLO Ludhiana Chapter has extended help in the installation of vending machines for sanitary napkins in many areas.

Municipal Commissioner, Mr. G. K. Singh said that smart city revamp & pan-city initiatives will provide only the core infrastructure but for a clean & green environment with a decent quality of life to sustain, the mindset of the people has to revolutionize & they have to make tangible efforts.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. Narinder Bhargav said efforts are being made to educate more & more people towards following traffic rules. He said suggestions given by the FLO members were good & could be implemented to improve the traffic situation & control overspeeding.

The event was like a durbar where the member entrepreneurs & professionals had one to one interaction with the 3 Commissioners of Ludhiana city & engaged in a healthy debate on various social topics of concern.

It was a very interactive, invigorating & productive session moderated by the National jt. treasurer FLO, Ms.Harjinder Kaur.

Key takeaways:

It is not only the prerogative & accountability of law enforcement bodies but the civil society also owes great responsibility towards a better India.
