BEING TARUN TAHILIANI

FLO Kolkata, in collaboration with TATA Steel Kolkata Literary Fest, orchestrated a spectacular event, “BEING TARUN TAHILIANI,” at Roots, Kolkata, on January 25th. The exclusive session featured an insightful interaction with the renowned style maestro, Tarun Tahiliani, moderated by Saionee Chakraborty, she is an Assistant Editor, Fashion, with The Telegraph t2, where she writes on fashion, lifestyle and wellness. The evening unfolded as Tarun Tahiliani shared the fascinating journey of his life, inspirations, and insights from his recent memoirs.

Tarun Tahiliani, a global fashion icon, showcased his ability to blend Indian craftsmanship and textile heritage with tailored silhouettes, exemplifying his guiding philosophy – all-encompassing and more. Starting his career with a degree in Business Management from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Tarun Tahiliani recognized the potential in India’s evolving fine clothing and couture industry. In 1987, he opened India’s first multi-designer boutique, Ensemble, heralding a fashion and retail revolution in the country. In 1991, he further honed his technical knowledge in design, receiving an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. Striving to create the image of “India Modern,” Tarun Tahiliani’s brand transcends the present while remaining rooted in India’s heritage of draped form and the tradition of artistry.

Reflecting on the event, Radhika Dalmia, Chairperson FLO Kolkata, remarked, “BEING TARUN TAHILIANI was a mesmerizing journey into the world of one of India’s most celebrated fashion maestros. FLO Kolkata, is committed to bringing such exclusive and insightful interactions to our members. Tarun Tahiliani’s story is an inspiration, showcasing the fusion of tradition and modernity in the realm of fashion.”
