An Interactive Session with Shiv Khera on “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently”

FLO organised an Interactive Session with world renowned motivational speaker and author of the international bestseller ‘You Can Win’, Mr Shiv Khera on 6 August 2014 at FICCI. “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently” was the overriding theme of the interactive session.

The session was organised with an objective to inspire and encourage more women to realise their true potential and help become more productive, by building on their Attitude, Leadership, Motivation and Values. The session offered insights into reviving winning spirit to succeed in various endeavours.

In her Welcome Remarks, Ms Neeta Boochra, President FLO said ‘A winning attitude is definitely the way of life as it determines the outcomes of one’s effort and the strength of his character.’ She added that ‘Failure is merely a matter of perspective and are in fact the stepping stones of success or pathways to attainment.’

In an anecdotal style, Shiv Khera enlightened the audience with the essential mantras of success, positive thinking and a winning attitude to overcome all setbacks and barriers in life.

The key takeaway from the session was the importance to master 3 skills to succeed in life namely People Skills; Persuasion Skills and Prioritizing Skills.

Talking about People Skills, Mr Khera said “Across the globe, we don’t have business problems, we have people problems. When we take care of people problem, most business problems are automatically resolved”

Highlighting on the need to have Persuasion Skills, Mr Khera said “Success in life depends upon our ability to persuade and convince. All great leaders in the world are persuasive.”

Coming to the third skill of Prioritizing, Mr Khera said “Somewhere, we have lost our priorities and forgotten to distinguish between what’s important in life and what’s urgent in life. Whenever we ignore what’s important, it converts into urgent”. He further added that “In addition, we also need to distinguish between what’s negotiable and non-negotiable; what’s pleasure and happiness; and what’s making money and earning money”

From being a failed student to becoming a motivational guru, Mr Shiv Khera through several anecdotes from his personal journey connected and related his perspective and take on several other key values to succeed in life such as relationships, constructive criticism, making choices, writing journal and importance of prayer.

The session provided a wonderful opportunity for members to introspect into their lives and learn how to channelize their innate powers towards the path of realizing our full potential.
