FLO was established in 1983, as a division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and industry (FICCI) which is the apex body of industry and commerce in India. As an All India Organisation for women, FLO has chapters in Mumbai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hydrabad, Jaipur, Guwahati and Kolkata with its head office in Delhi. Our members comprise of enterpreneurs, professionals and Corporate Executives.

The primary objective of FLO is to promote entrepreneurship and professional excellence in women. FLO endeavors to enhance the various skills of women through its educational and vocational training programmes, talks, seminars, panel discussion and workshop on a wide range of subjects like information technology, taxation, insurance, venture capital, stock market operations, accountancy, marketing, mutual funds, investment planning, entrepreneurship development programmes etc. We also focus on women related legal and social issues like uniform civil code, domestic violence, etc.

At the grass root level, emphasis is given on entrepreneurship development programmes for craft persons and others especially in the remote areas of different states of India. The places that have been covered are Jahota (Rajasthan), Nabha (Punjab), Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh), Ibrahimpatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Vijaynagaram (Karnataka), Shanti Niketan (West Bengal), Bhuj (Gujarat), etc.

At the middle level, women who wish to set up their own industry have been given similar entrepreneurial development programmes to help them in developing skills for product identification, preparation of project reports, identify sources for funding, etc. There is special reference to products like, gems and jewellery, leather articles, fruit and vegetable processing, mushroom cultivation, floriculture, handlooms and handicrafts, food service business, etc.

At the senior level, women who are already in a business or profession are provided with skill enhancement programmes like sophisticated management techniques, international marketing, human resource development, financial accountancy, etc.

FICCI & FLO
FLO works in association with our parent body FICCI ( Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry ). FICCI represents Corporate India as an organization with tremendous power to protect and further corporate India's commercial interests. The widespread network of FICCI has helped FLO reach out to more women around the globe. One of FLO's strength is its enormously powerful parent - FICCI, with its nationwide membership of :
  • 1000 Chambers of Commerce
  • 450 Trade Associations
  • 1500 corporates
  • It represents 2,50,000 business organisations.
This translates into a vast network of organizations, government bodies and individuals who can be leveraged to contribute.
